What should I read before Death of the Family, Batman?
But before attending Batman: Death of the Family, there is no reading need. Detective Comics #1, collected in Crime Comics: Faces of Death, can function as an introduction at most, but it’s not needed to understand the story as every important detail is covered in the main story.
All that is known is that, according to the stories, the Joker severed his face before being missing for a while. Batman is the setting for the main storyline.
